Cobra Rudder Block

One of several options to restore rudders on some kayaks outfitted with a certain Long Pin rudder systems. See the Replacement of Classic Rudders article.

Best used as a replacement part for the central block in a Cobra Kayaks brand rudder assembly. Can be used as a replacement part to match to the older rudder assemblies used on some Aquaterra, many Perception and Dagger kayak circa 2000-2003, some Cobra, some Liquid Logic, older Old Town, some Heritage and a small number of Ocean Kayak models. Block is 2 ¼ front to back, ¾ inches thick, 1 5/16 inches high. Two 3/16 in. holes (7/8 in. on center) and several slots are machined into the block. You will have to completely disassemble your rudder and reassemble it without instructions. Important! You will have to supply your own 3/8 inch diameter pin for this block. I would suggest a stainless steel shoulder bolt with a locking nut. These should be readily available at a hardware store.

Archive Info: The black Cobra Rudder Block and Pin is discontinued. The white plastic block, referred to as the Rudder Pin in Teflon Block, part number 9820002, is available again as the 2-Screw Rudder Block and Pin. These two parts are nearly identical in every way.
